Zanzibar Officials Inspired by Visit to Shanghai Meteorological Museum

On June 17, the public relations director of the Zanzibar Tourism Commission visited the Shanghai Meteorological Museum and said: “This building perfectly integrates Eastern and Western architectural aesthetics, it looks different from other buildings around it!”

“These buildings are not just simple museums, they are a reflection of culture,” he said, expressing admiration for the Xuhui District government’s preservation and revitalization of these historical buildings as a testament to cultural heritage.

Located in the core area of Xujiahui Source in the city center, the Shanghai Meteorological Museum is a three-dimensional “Shanghai-style culture” textbook. This neoclassical building, nearly 150 years old, is an important landmark in the Xuhui District as the “source of Shanghai-style culture,” with its red brick exterior, arched windows, and iconic wind tower quietly showcasing Shanghai’s unique charm as a modern intersection of Chinese and Western cultures.
