On May 31st, the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar marks the traditional Chinese festival known as the Dragon Boat Festival. On this day, the caretakers at Chongqing Zoo meticulously prepared a special “Zongzi Feast” for the animals within the zoo.
The caretakers crafted “zongzi,” a traditional Chinese food, based on the dietary habits and nutritional needs of different animals using fresh bamboo leaves, lemongrass, meat, grains, and various fruits. Animals such as panda cubs, giraffes, bears, and black panthers all got to savor their exclusive festive delicacies, eating delightfully and showing their adorable sides. (Jing Shiyan Zhuo Yu)
