The Three Gorges Reservoir is now in the final stage of reaching its 175-meter water storage target. At the Wanzhou section in Chongqing, the Wanzhou Port has entered its peak production season for the year.

As of 8:00 AM today, the water level at the Chongqing Wanzhou section of the Three Gorges Reservoir area has reached 174.80 meters, marking the final push toward full storage capacity. Wanzhou Port is experiencing its busiest production period of the year. At the Tuokou operation area, large shore cranes are continuously operating, dock workers are busy at work, and transport vehicles are coming and going, creating a scene of orderly and bustling activity.

The water depth has increased by 10-20 meters, making Wanzhou Port a deep-water harbor. Cargo handling efficiency has improved by approximately 20% compared to normal conditions.

With the reservoir area now operating at high water levels, the channel depth has increased, and the river surface has widened by several hundred to about one thousand meters compared to before the water storage. This has significantly enhanced navigation capacity and shipping efficiency in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River.

As the river water rises rapidly, floating debris such as tree branches,杂物, and garbage has become more noticeable. To maintain the water environment and keep the river surface clean, Wanzhou’s urban sanitation department has intensified cleanup operations. Dozens of mechanical and manual cleanup vessels are deployed daily to collect floating debris in key water areas, with each vessel retrieving an average of 6 to 7 tons of floating material per day.

Three Gorges Reservoir

The Three Gorges Reservoir is a massive artificial lake on China’s Yangtze River, created by the controversial Three Gorges Dam, the world’s largest power station by installed capacity. Its construction, which submerged numerous towns, archaeological sites, and farmland, was primarily completed in 2006 to control devastating floods and generate hydroelectric power. The reservoir’s formation represents a monumental feat of engineering that has had profound social and environmental impacts on the region.

Wanzhou Port

Wanzhou Port is a major river port located on the Yangtze River in Chongqing Municipality, China. Historically, it served as a vital hub for trade and transportation in the Three Gorges region for centuries. Its modern development was significantly influenced by the construction of the Three Gorges Dam, which transformed it into a deeper-water port capable of handling larger vessels.

Tuokou operation area

I am unable to find any significant historical or cultural information on a place called the “Tuokou operation area.” It does not appear to be a recognized historical site, landmark, or standard geographical location. The term may refer to a localized project, a temporary operational zone, or could potentially be a mistranslation.

Yangtze River

The Yangtze River is the longest river in Asia and the third-longest in the world, flowing for over 6,300 kilometers across China. It has been a cradle of Chinese civilization for millennia, serving as a vital artery for transportation, agriculture, and cultural development. A major modern transformation of the river is the Three Gorges Dam, the world’s largest power station in terms of installed capacity.
