On the evening of the 23rd local time, the presidential palace of the Republic of the Congo announced on national television that Makoso has been reappointed as Prime Minister and tasked with forming a new government.

The announcement stated that Makoso will subsequently submit the list of the new government cabinet to the president.

President Sassou of the Republic of the Congo was sworn in on the 16th in the capital Brazzaville, beginning a new five-year term. According to the constitution of the Republic of the Congo, Sassou should appoint a new prime minister to form a cabinet. Makoso and his government submitted their resignations on the 17th, which were approved by the president.
