On the morning of April 15, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President of the State Xi Jinping held talks with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President of the State To Lam in the East Hall of the Great Hall of the People. Listening to the opening remarks of the talks on-site, one can perceive three distinctive “special” aspects, which we share with everyone here.
Great Hall of the People
The Great Hall of the People is a state building located on the western edge of Tiananmen Square in Beijing, China. Completed in 1959 as one of the “Ten Great Buildings” constructed for the 10th anniversary of the People’s Republic, it serves as the meeting place for the National People’s Congress and hosts major political and diplomatic events.
East Hall
East Hall is a historic building located on the campus of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Completed in 1856, it is the university’s oldest surviving classroom building and originally housed the entire College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. It is a National Historic Landmark, notable for its role in pioneering coeducation, as it was where the first female students attended classes in the 1870s.
