According to statistics released by Shanghai Customs, in the first seven months of this year, the total import and export value of private enterprises in Shanghai reached 982.38 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 25.5%. Among this, exports amounted to 535.7 billion yuan, up 27% year-on-year, while imports were 446.68 billion yuan, an increase of 23.6%.
The rapid growth in import and export activities of Shanghai’s private enterprises has benefited from a series of customs policy supports, including AEO (Authorized Economic Operator) certification to expedite customs clearance, policy service packages to upgrade processing trade models, and “zero-delay” measures to improve the efficiency of clearing fresh agricultural products.
Shanghai Quectel Communication Technology Co., Ltd., a national high-tech enterprise, exports its main products such as wireless communication modules to more than 70 countries and regions. The company obtained AEO certification this year, allowing it to enjoy customs facilitation policies such as reduced inspections, priority testing, and faster clearance. This has shortened the customs clearance time for relevant goods by about two days, giving the company a head start in expanding its overseas markets.
Shanghai Hailiang Copper Co., Ltd. mainly produces seamless copper tubes for air conditioning and refrigeration. In December 2024, the company faced uncertainty in its overseas market development due to the cancellation of export tax rebates for copper products. Shanghai Fengxian Customs tailored a “policy service package” for the company, supporting its transition from a pure import processing enterprise to a composite processing enterprise handling both import and outward processing. This has promoted the efficient operation of its processing trade business. In the first seven months of this year, the company’s import and export value increased by 76.32% year-on-year.
In recent years, Shanghai Yongda Fungus Co., Ltd. has expanded its overseas market with more than ten varieties of mushrooms, including “White Jade Mushroom,” “Crab-Flavored Mushroom,” and “Hydrangea Mushroom.” Fresh mushrooms and other perishable agricultural products require highly efficient customs clearance. In response, Shanghai Wusong Customs has opened a “green channel,” implementing “zero delay, instant release” for products not involved in risk control measures. They have optimized the connection between inspection and clearance processes, reducing the time required to issue phytosanitary certificates to two-thirds of the original duration. In the first seven months of this year, Yongda Fungus’s exports of edible fungi and mushroom sticks increased by 16.3% year-on-year.
