The 2026 “Charm of Shanghai 6·6 Shanghai Style Cheongsam Month,” co-hosted by the Shanghai Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center and the Shanghai Style Cheongsam Culture Promotion Association, recently launched at the Shanghai Mass Art Museum. The museum has been transformed into a one-stop Shanghai-style aesthetic experience space, showcasing the evolution of century-old Shanghai-style clothing and aesthetic trends through a cheongsam art exhibition.
On the same day, a Shanghai-style cheongsam culture lecture was held in the first-floor lobby, where representatives of industry heritage, brand founders, and aesthetic directors gave specialized lectures and shared insights. Interactive experiences such as digital dressing mirrors and real-life cheongsam styling photo shoots were also set up on site, promoting the transformation of intangible cultural heritage from “static display” to “immersive experience.”
Over 30 cheongsam art teams gathered at the museum, presenting the artistic charm of Shanghai-style cheongsam through three themed performances. During Cheongsam Month, various urban landmarks including the Huangpu River cruise water lounge, Jinshan Langxia Friendly Village, Qingpu Fangxia Fashion Center, and Pudong EKA Tianwu will collaborate for citywide shows.
The cheongsam cultural and creative market on the second floor of the museum brings together 15 cheongsam and cultural brands, covering categories such as high-end handmade custom pieces, new Chinese-style everyday cheongsam, intangible cultural heritage button and embroidery accessories, and Shanghai-style original cultural creative derivatives, creating a cultural space integrating display, experience, and consumption. The market also offers free handcrafted coffee from “children of the stars.”
As one of the main events in Shanghai for the 2026 “Cultural and Natural Heritage Day,” the Shanghai-style Cheongsam Month will be guided by the core concept of “New Life of Intangible Heritage, Shanghai-style Fashion, Beauty Across the City,” focusing on intangible heritage revitalization, aesthetic education popularization, cultural-commercial-tourism integration, and public participation. Through a main venue leading and multi-district collaboration, it aims to bring Shanghai-style cheongsam culture into business districts, communities, industrial parks, and scenic areas, further enhancing the influence of the Shanghai-style cultural brand.
