According to a report from Washington on April 22, the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Consular Affairs posted on social media that, given Iran has announced a partial reopening of its airspace, American citizens in Iran should leave immediately.

The post stated that the Bureau of Consular Affairs advises U.S. citizens to follow the latest updates from local media and to consult commercial airlines for information on flights departing Iran. Additionally, U.S. citizens may travel overland to Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Turkmenistan, but should avoid areas bordering Iran in Afghanistan, Iraq, or Pakistan.

According to a report from the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting on April 19, a deputy of Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization stated that Iranian airspace will be reopened in four phases.
