On August 23, it was learned from the Ministry of Emergency Management that the State Council Safety Committee has decided to oversee the investigation into the major collapse accident at the Jianzha Yellow River Bridge construction project of the Xining-Chengdu Railway on August 22. The State Council Safety Committee Office and the Ministry of Emergency Management, together with the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission and the National Railway Administration, have formed an on-site supervision team to oversee the accident investigation process in Qinghai Province.

On August 22, a collapse accident occurred at the Jianzha Yellow River Bridge construction project of the Qinghai section of the Xining-Chengdu Railway, which has so far resulted in 12 deaths and 4 missing.
