Xi Jinping pointed out that this year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Ghana. The friendship between China and Ghana was forged by the older generation of leaders from both countries and has stood the test of time. China firmly supports Ghana in pursuing a modernization path that suits its national conditions and is willing to work with Ghana to upgrade cooperation in various fields, making greater contributions to building a China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era.

Xi Jinping emphasized that China always adheres to the principles of sincerity, real results, amity and good faith, and the principle of pursuing the greater good and shared interests in its cooperation with Africa. China is willing to enhance political mutual trust with Ghana and support each other on issues concerning their respective core interests and major concerns. Both sides should jointly implement the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and explore diversified cooperation models; expand cooperation in mining, energy, infrastructure construction, agriculture and fisheries, helping Ghana transform its resource advantages into development momentum, effectively coordinate resource development and environmental protection, and promote high-quality development of bilateral cooperation; jointly practice the Global Governance Initiative and promote the building of a more just and reasonable global governance system. Both sides reached a principled consensus on the early harvest arrangement of the Common Development Economic Partnership Agreement and look forward to Ghana benefiting from China’s zero-tariff treatment for 100% of tariff lines for African countries having diplomatic relations with China.

Mahama warmly congratulated China on successfully hosting the Global Women’s Summit, believing that this summit is of great significance and demonstrates China’s leadership in promoting the development of women’s causes worldwide. He stated that Ghana and China have a long-standing friendly relationship and thanked China for its strong support and assistance to Ghana through the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative. Ghana firmly adheres to the One-China policy and is committed to deepening relations with China, looking forward to strengthening cooperation with China in trade, digital economy, infrastructure construction, energy, minerals, and people-to-people exchanges to bring bilateral relations to a new level. Ghana firmly supports multilateralism and is willing to strengthen solidarity with China and other like-minded countries, enhance multilateral coordination, practice the Global Governance Initiative, and uphold international fairness and justice.

The meeting was attended by Wang Yi.

Great Hall of the People

The Great Hall of the People is a state building located on the western edge of Tiananmen Square in Beijing. Completed in 1959, it was built in just ten months as one of the “Ten Great Buildings” constructed for the 10th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China. It serves as the meeting place for the National People’s Congress and hosts other major political and diplomatic events.

Beijing

Beijing is the capital of China, with a history spanning over three millennia as a cultural and political center. It served as the seat of power for several imperial dynasties, most notably the Ming and Qing, which left behind iconic landmarks like the Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven. Today, it remains the political heart of the nation and a global city blending ancient heritage with modern development.

Global Women’s Summit

The Global Women’s Summit is a major international conference dedicated to advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment. While not a single physical site, its history is rooted in the global women’s rights movement, evolving from earlier conferences like the 1975 UN International Women’s Year Conference in Mexico City. These summits serve as a platform for leaders, activists, and organizations to discuss challenges, share strategies, and forge partnerships for women’s progress worldwide.

Forum on China-Africa Cooperation

The Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) is an official forum and platform for collective dialogue and cooperation between China and African countries. It was established in 2000 to strengthen economic and political ties, with its framework centered on high-level ministerial conferences held every three years. Through FOCAC, China has launched numerous initiatives and provided significant financial support for infrastructure and development projects across the African continent.

Belt and Road Initiative

The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is a vast global infrastructure development strategy launched by the Chinese government in 2013 to invest in nearly 70 countries and international organizations. It aims to enhance regional connectivity and create a modern-day “Silk Road” by building a network of railways, energy pipelines, highways, and streamlined border crossings. The initiative seeks to boost trade and stimulate economic growth across Asia and beyond, echoing the historic Silk Road trade routes.

Global Governance Initiative

The Global Governance Initiative is not a physical place but a collaborative platform addressing worldwide challenges like climate change and economic inequality. It brings together governments, international organizations, and civil society to develop coordinated policy solutions. Its history is rooted in the growing recognition that complex global problems require collective action beyond the capacity of any single nation.

Common Development Economic Partnership Agreement

This is not a place or cultural site, but an international trade agreement. The Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), originally known as the TPP, is a trade pact among 11 countries bordering the Pacific Ocean. It aims to reduce tariffs and establish common trade rules to deepen economic ties and foster shared economic growth among its member nations.
