On September 29, during the general debate of the 80th UN General Assembly, a North Korean Vice Foreign Minister strongly condemned Israel’s genocide in the Gaza Strip and urgently demanded that Israel immediately cease its crimes against humanity. The Vice Foreign Minister stated: “80 years have passed since the end of World War II, yet today, in the Middle East, genocide and crimes against humanity even more severe than those of Hitler’s era are being openly committed, shocking the entire world.”

UN General Assembly

The United Nations General Assembly is the main policymaking body of the UN, established in 1945 after World War II. It serves as a forum for all 193 member states to discuss and work together on international issues, including peace, security, and development. Each member nation has an equal vote, embodying the principle of sovereign equality.

World War II

World War II was a global conflict that lasted from 1939 to 1945, involving most of the world’s nations. It was primarily fought between the Axis powers (led by Germany, Italy, and Japan) and the Allies (led by the United Kingdom, the United States, and the Soviet Union), resulting in an estimated 70-85 million fatalities. The war ended with the defeat of the Axis powers and had profound consequences, including the Holocaust, the use of atomic weapons, and the beginning of the Cold War.

Middle East

The Middle East is a transcontinental region centered on Western Asia and Egypt, historically known as the “Cradle of Civilization” for the emergence of ancient cultures like the Sumerians and the birthplace of major world religions. Its history is marked by the rise and fall of vast empires, including the Persian, Ottoman, and Abbasid Caliphates, which shaped global trade, science, and culture. Today, it remains a region of immense geopolitical and economic significance, largely due to its vast reserves of oil and natural gas.

Gaza Strip

The Gaza Strip is a small coastal territory on the Mediterranean Sea that has been a strategically significant crossroads for centuries, ruled by various empires. In the 20th century, it came under Egyptian administration after the 1948 Arab-Israeli war and was subsequently occupied by Israel following the 1967 Six-Day War. Today, it is home to over two million Palestinians and is governed by the Hamas political party, remaining a focal point of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Hitler

Adolf Hitler was the leader of Nazi Germany from 1934 to 1945, not a place or cultural site. His regime was responsible for initiating World War II and the Holocaust, a period marked by aggressive militarism and the systematic persecution and genocide of millions.
