On the morning of September 1st, the 25th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States was held at the Tianjin Meijiang Convention and Exhibition Center. The President of the People’s Republic of China presided over the meeting and delivered an important speech.

He emphasized the importance of upholding openness and inclusiveness. The Eurasian continent has nurtured ancient civilizations, led the integration of East and West, and propelled human progress. Since ancient times, the peoples of various countries have exchanged goods and learned from each other’s strengths. Member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization should deepen mutual understanding and friendship through cultural exchanges, provide strong support in economic cooperation, and work together to build a garden of civilizations characterized by self-development, mutual benefit, shared beauty, harmony, and coexistence.

Shanghai Cooperation Organization

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is a Eurasian political, economic, and security alliance originally founded in 2001 by China, Russia, and four Central Asian states, evolving from a 1990s-era agreement on border security. Its primary objectives are to promote cooperation on security issues, combat terrorism, and enhance economic collaboration among member states. The organization has since expanded to include new full members, such as India and Pakistan, and plays a significant role in regional affairs.

Eurasian continent

The Eurasian continent is the world’s largest landmass, comprising the continents of Europe and Asia. It has been the cradle of numerous ancient civilizations and empires, from Mesopotamia and Ancient China to the Romans and Mongols, whose interactions along trade routes like the Silk Road shaped global history for millennia. This vast region continues to be a central stage for geopolitics, culture, and economic activity.
