On the morning of June 8, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President Xi Jinping left Beijing by special plane for a state visit to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea at the invitation of Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK.

Accompanying the visit were: Peng Liyuan, wife of General Secretary and President Xi Jinping; Cai Qi, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee; and Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
