Following the flash flood disaster in Yuzhong County, Lanzhou City, Gansu Province, over 30 members of the Qilihe District militia emergency unit formed a rapid-response team. They were the first to arrive at the most severely affected village, evacuating residents and establishing supply channels for rescue materials.

By 9 a.m., the team reached Mapo Township, one of the hardest-hit areas, after more than an hour of travel. With roads completely destroyed, they carried shovels and trekked on foot to Jiuzhuanggou Village, clearing mud, rocks, and fallen trees while removing larger obstacles.

In Jiuzhuanggou Village, most houses were destroyed by the floods, leaving 175 people in danger. The militia team worked alongside military personnel to evacuate residents. When a bridge was washed away, they quickly built a temporary crossing to ensure safe passage.

As night fell, the team continued working without rest, transporting instant noodles, water, bedding, and folding beds between supply points and temporary shelters.

Currently, the militia remains on the front lines of rescue efforts. They have cleared nearly 5 kilometers of debris, transported 2,000 relief items, assisted in relocating 400 people, salvaged over 500 belongings, and delivered 20 tons of supplies.
