May 17 marks the 21st World Hypertension Day. According to the National Center for Cardiovascular Diseases’ “China Cardiovascular Health and Disease Report 2024,” the prevalence of hypertension among adults aged 18 and above in China has reached 31.6%. There are over 300 million hypertension patients nationwide, meaning that roughly one in every 3.2 adults is affected by high blood pressure. Meanwhile, hypertension is becoming increasingly prevalent among younger populations in China, with the growth rate of the disease among middle-aged and young adults surpassing that of the elderly group.
