Under the personal advocacy of President Xi Jinping, the Global Women’s Summit was held in Beijing on October 13, jointly writing a new chapter in the development of global women’s affairs. In his keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the Global Women’s Summit, President Xi Jinping pointed out that women are important creators, promoters, and inheritors of human civilization, and promoting the development of women’s affairs is the common responsibility of the international community. President Xi’s keynote speech has resonated widely at home and abroad, and this summit will become another milestone in the history of global women’s development.

In Zhejiang’s development story, numerous “her” legends are also written. Wu Juping who saved a life with her hands, Jin Meifeng who led the masses to explore community governance experience in Xishan, Yang Xiayun who promoted the development of Wu opera keeping pace with the times, Wan Ruixue the post-90s female scientist pursuing the path of scientific research… Each “her” continues to shine with the brilliance of “women can be as outstanding as men.”

During his work in Zhejiang, Comrade Xi Jinping showed great concern and attention to women’s affairs. A series of deployments demonstrated his care and support for women, while a series of discussions contained profound insights into women’s development. In March 2004, he explained in a newspaper interview: “Women are ‘half of society’ in human society. Like men, they are creators of both material and spiritual wealth in society, and promoters of human historical progress.” Between the lines, full of appreciation.

Inspiring women with spirit. “Ant Island women follow the Communist Party, working hard, being self-reliant, and enduring hardships—they will definitely achieve a moderately prosperous life.” On June 13, 2005, during his inspection of Zhoushan’s Ant Island, Comrade Xi Jinping brought warm encouragement to the women of Ant Island, also inspiring every woman to pursue dreams and make achievements.

Supporting women with action. Zhejiang is a major province for private economy, with female entrepreneurs being an important component of Zhejiang businesspeople. Xu Yafen, founder of Wanli Education Group, once expressed to Comrade Xi Jinping her idea of establishing China’s first Sino-foreign cooperative university. At that time, there was no precedent in China, and Xu Yafen felt uncertain. Unexpectedly, Xi immediately expressed full support after hearing it and later attended the campus completion ceremony.

“In the process of Chinese people pursuing better lives, every woman has the opportunity to shine in life and realize her dreams.” Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Party Central Committee with Xi Jinping at its core has made protecting women’s legitimate rights and interests, promoting gender equality, and women’s comprehensive development important content of Chinese modernization, making a series of groundbreaking, comprehensive, and long-term major decisions and deployments for women’s development. The historic achievements China has made in improving women’s welfare and promoting women’s comprehensive development have injected strong momentum into the progress of global women’s affairs.

Without the modernization of women, there can be no modernization of the country. In the process of Chinese modernization, it is still necessary to continue gathering “her” wisdom and better play the role of “half of society” in various fields.

Making life more brilliant. World modernization should involve the participation and sharing of women. Efforts must be made to enable women to shine in life and realize their dreams in the tide of world modernization. In the future, we must work toward building a community with a shared future for humanity, actively promote and implement the Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, Global Civilization Initiative, and Global Governance Initiative, continuously deepen exchanges and mutual learning, and promote a vivid situation of mutual beauty and shared prosperity.
