How long will the current heatwave in Chongqing last? Meteorological experts predict it will continue until the end of the month.

According to the Chongqing Meteorological Observatory, the weather in Chongqing will be mainly cloudy to sunny over the next three days, with scattered showers expected in parts of the central-western and northeastern regions on the 24th.

Monitoring data shows that from 7:00 on the 23rd to 7:00 on the 24th, the central-western and southeastern parts of Chongqing experienced overcast conditions with showers or scattered rainfall, while other areas saw cloudy weather turning to showers. Some localities recorded moderate to heavy rain, with three rainfall stations in Hechuan, Chengkou, and Wuxi reporting heavy rainfall. The maximum rainfall reached 62.3 millimeters (Longwang Village, Chengkou), and the maximum hourly rainfall was 43.2 millimeters (Qiantang, Hechuan, at 18:00 on the 23rd). Temperatures ranged from 21°C to 38°C, with the highest temperatures in Kaizhou and Wuxi exceeding 37°C, peaking at 38.3°C (Wuxi).

How long will this period of sunny and hot weather last? According to the forecast, starting from the night of the 24th until the end of August, Chongqing will once again be under the control of the subtropical high, leading to a resurgence of sunny and hot conditions. The daily maximum temperatures in some areas are expected to approach 40°C.
