On May 27, the 2026 Chongqing Grain and Material Reserves Science and Technology Activity Week opened at Chongqing Three Gorges University of Science and Technology. The event showcased cutting-edge grain storage technologies, released a whole grain health initiative, and held multiple specialized seminars and training sessions, comprehensively promoting technology-empowered food security and industrial upgrading.

It is reported that this event brought together over a hundred representatives from Chongqing’s various district and county grain and reserve departments, grain and oil quality inspection agencies, research institutes, state-owned grain enterprises, and universities. It served both as a concentrated review of technological innovation achievements in Chongqing’s grain and material reserves sector and as an important measure to implement the national food security strategy and cultivate new productive forces in the industry.

The event site was highly technological, with multiple advanced grain storage equipment showcased together, sparking a new trend in green and smart grain storage. A mobile nitrogen-generating vehicle demonstrated physical atmosphere-controlled grain storage technology on-site, which can kill insects and inhibit bacteria without chemical agents; rapid detection equipment can test multiple indicators such as grain moisture and mycotoxins within minutes, with data uploaded to the cloud in real time. Innovative achievements in radiation cooling zero-energy cooling solutions were also exhibited simultaneously, which can significantly reduce warehouse temperatures and save over 40% energy.

On the same day, a seminar and training session on whole grain dietary nutrition and human health was held, where the action initiative was released, promoting whole grain foods like brown rice and oats to enter people’s daily diets. Professors and industry representatives from Southwest University, Chongqing Technology and Business University, and Chongqing Three Gorges University of Science and Technology conducted discussions on whole grain dietary nutrition, whole grain industry development, and whole grain product development, helping to deeply integrate whole grain industry research with the market.

In addition, experts from the Science Research Institute of the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration gave special lectures, explaining new tracks for grain and oil technology innovation and directions for cultivating new productive forces. Participating representatives also visited the green grain storage and smart management achievements of the Sinograin Wanzhou Direct Depot on-site and exchanged advanced industry experiences.

According to the Chongqing Grain and Material Reserves Bureau, since the 14th Five-Year Plan, Chongqing’s grain and reserve support capabilities have continuously strengthened. It has undertaken 2 key national science and technology projects from the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration and 2 municipal science and technology projects, with a cumulative total of 16 authorized national patents; the city’s green grain storage technology application warehouse capacity coverage rate has reached 68.6%; the city’s grain circulation supervision platform and grain depot system have been built and put into operation, with the smart grain depot going live; 3 master and model worker studios and 3 innovation platforms such as technology innovation centers have been established.

The supporting activities for the 2026 Chongqing Grain and Material Reserves Science and Technology Activity Week will continue until early June. During this period, a promotion meeting for grain storage through technology and talent, and a training meeting on grain storage and quality safety management will be held. Events will include organizing participation in the Western Grain and Oil Industry Vocational Skills Invitational Competition, high-quality grain and oil whole grains entering government agencies, and donating scientific grain storage equipment to farmers. Various districts and counties will also carry out independent promotion services focusing on whole grain science popularization, grain loss reduction, and scientific grain storage for farmers, comprehensively promoting technology-driven grain storage and nutrition benefiting the people.
