To pass on the spirit of role models and cultivate young people’s moral character and love for their family and country, on May 23, the “Role Models Guide, Virtue Enriches Chengdu” advanced deeds tour and exhibition of good people from Chengdu was successfully held at the Longquanyi District New Era Civilization Practice Base, Peng Ke Good Person Studio, and the Western Sichuan Literature Restoration Center. This event was organized by the Chengdu Spiritual Civilization Construction Office, the Longquanyi District Spiritual Civilization Construction Office, and the Longquanyi District Cultural Center, and co-organized by the Red Star News Network and the Western Sichuan Literature Restoration Center. Nearly one hundred citizens and parent-child families participated, experiencing the power of role models up close and immersing themselves in the charm of traditional culture.

At the start of the event, parent-child families signed in and collected activity materials in an orderly manner. Guided by a docent, everyone first visited the 2025 Chengdu Good People’s Deeds special exhibition. Vivid illustrated panels and touching stories of ordinary people’s good deeds showcased the exemplary spirit of helping others, dedication to work, bravery in righteousness, and filial piety. This allowed young attendees to directly perceive the noble character and spiritual realm of good people from their surroundings, planting seeds of virtue in their hearts.

Next, Peng Ke, a candidate for the first batch of “Dedication and Contribution” China Good Person list in 2026, delivered an inspiring speech. As the chairman of the Western Sichuan Literature Restoration Center, Peng has worked for years in ancient book restoration, upholding the craftsman’s devotion. He led his team to restore over 28,000 paper cultural relics and built a platform for training ancient book restoration talents, continuing the Chinese cultural heritage with craftsmanship. Sharing his personal experiences, he spoke about his original intention and commitment to sticking with a niche field and preserving cultural roots. His simple words and sincere emotions deeply moved every audience member. After the speech, Peng guided everyone through the Dong’an Lake Ancient Book Protection Immersive Experience Hall, explaining the historical and cultural significance of ancient book protection and document restoration, helping young people cultivate character and draw strength from the essence of books and culture.

To honor exemplary figures and show respect to good people, a certificate awarding ceremony for the 2025 Chengdu Good People was held at the event. Honorary certificates and creative cultural gifts were presented to three good person representatives: Chen Bing, Wang Shenggao, and Jian Yunjiu. This conveyed society’s respect and admiration for role models, fostering an atmosphere of learning from and striving to become good people across the whole society.

“Virtue, goodness, benevolence, sincerity, propriety, harmony…” During the “Literary Heart Carving Dragons, Poetry Sea Competition” flying flower poetry challenge, parent-child families worked together and eagerly answered questions, competing in poetry battles centered on traditional virtues. The lively atmosphere was filled with the fragrance of ancient poetry. Through fun interactions, participants passed on classics, cultivated virtue through poetry, and deepened their understanding of traditional virtues. The event also featured various prizes. All participating families received a “Elegant Youth Award” poetry blind box gift, while families with higher scores won the “Hanlin Honor Award” with exclusive creative cultural products.

The movable type printing experience session allowed young people to deeply appreciate the vastness of China’s excellent traditional culture. The instructor explained the history and core process of movable type printing in an accessible way, demonstrating key steps such as typesetting, inking, printing, and paper lifting. Then, parent-child families worked together, carefully selecting templates, arranging type, and cautiously inking and printing. Through hands-on practice, they experienced the unique charm of ancient techniques, felt the wisdom and craftsmanship of the ancients, and took home their own printed works and unforgettable parent-child moments.

This event, guided by role model deeds and using cultural experiences as a vehicle, organically combined moral education with the transmission of traditional culture. It allowed young people to learn the noble spirit of good people up close while experiencing the profound heritage of Chinese culture through immersive activities.
