On May 18, Chengdu Electric Co., Ltd., established by the Chengdu Industrial Investment Group, successfully secured a contract from China Baowu Steel Group for 3 sets of ICTA3 new axial flow compressor units, with a total value of 80 million RMB. The awarded models include two ICTA3-90 units and one ICTA3-100 unit.

Axial flow compressors are known as the “power heart” of high-end industry, widely used in strategic sectors such as steel, petrochemicals, and energy that are vital to the national economy and people’s livelihoods. Their level of self-reliance directly affects the security and stability of the industrial chain and supply chain. As a global leader in the steel industry, China Baowu Steel Group sets strict standards for the technical level, operational stability, energy efficiency indicators, and full lifecycle services of core equipment.

The ICTA3 series units awarded in this bid are the third-generation industrial axial flow compressors independently developed by Chengdu Electric, integrating cutting-edge aero-engine technology. They are also the first new generation of ultra-large axial flow compressors in China with fully independent intellectual property rights. This series has obtained 16 patent authorizations and 5 software copyrights, with core performance indicators reaching internationally advanced levels, breaking foreign technological monopolies and market barriers, and achieving a breakthrough from “reliance on imports” to “domestic self-reliance” for the high-end industrial “power heart.”

In terms of technical performance, the ICTA3 series achieves simultaneous breakthroughs in two core advantages: energy efficiency and reliability. Through deep optimization of the aerodynamic structure, the operating efficiency of the units is improved by about 5% compared to traditional models, offering outstanding energy-saving benefits. A single ICTA3-71 unit already in operation saves over 10 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually and reduces carbon dioxide emissions by about 11,000 tons per year. The 90 and 100 models awarded this time are larger power units, with even greater energy-saving potential to be released, bringing significant economic and ecological benefits after commissioning.

Previously, the ICTA3 series products have been successfully applied in domestic benchmark steel enterprises such as Zhongtian Steel and Puyang Steel, undergoing rigorous industrial scenario verification and earning industry recognition for their “more reliable, more energy-efficient, and more durable” quality. This latest major order, entering the core production lines of a global steel industry leader, fully demonstrates that the high-end axial flow compressors “made in Chengdu” are capable of competing with top international brands.
