On the morning of August 24, Su-30MK2 fighter jets, Mi helicopters, Casa transport aircraft, Yak-130 multirole aircraft, and L-39NG aircraft conducted formation training flights over Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi.

This is the latest activity in preparation for the aerial display to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and the National Day (A80) of the Vietnam Air Force (Air Defense – Air Force Service).

Reportedly, there were 10 Mi helicopters from Air Regiments 916, 917, and 930; 2 Casa transport aircraft from Air Brigade 918; 5 Su-30MK2 fighter jets; 6 Yak-130 multirole aircraft (Air Regiment 940); and a formation of 6 L-39NG trainer aircraft from Air Regiment 910 (Air Force Officer School).

It is known that in recent days, to prepare for the aerial salute during the grand celebration of the 80th National Day on September 2 at Ba Dinh Square, the « most elite » pilots of the Vietnam Air Force have been training day and night at Kep Airport (Bac Ninh), Hoa Lac, and Gia Lam (Hanoi).

Along with that, the Air Defense – Air Force Service has also studied the terrain and developed detailed and meticulous flight plans to be fully prepared for the upcoming grand celebration.

According to a report from the Air Defense – Air Force Service, the air force participating in the A80 mission uses 40 aircraft, including SU-30MK2, Yak-130, L39-NG, helicopters, and transport aircraft. The units organized 78 flight shifts, ensuring absolute safety.

Previously, on the morning of August 21, 10 Mi helicopters and 2 Casa transport aircraft also conducted training and reconnaissance flights over many inner-city areas of Hanoi and flew over Ba Dinh Square.

Ba Dinh Square

National Day
