Amid increasingly dynamic economic challenges, the Depok City Government together with the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) held a High Level Meeting (HLM) in the Edelweis Hall, Depok City Hall, on Tuesday. The meeting was not just a routine agenda, but a serious effort to keep food prices stable while strengthening the economic independence of the citizens.

The Deputy Mayor of Depok was present along with the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda), Bank Indonesia, Bulog, BPS, and regional apparatus. All sat at one table to discuss one thing: how Depok can maintain food security amid limited land and high dependence on supply from outside the region.

The Head of the Economy and Natural Resources Division of the Depok City Regional Secretariat emphasized that inflation is not just a number. “If prices are uncontrolled, people’s purchasing power decreases. But if inflation can be maintained, the community becomes more prosperous and regional economic growth also increases,” she explained.

According to her, Depok’s main problem lies in the food supply, most of which is still brought in from outside the city. As a result, the prices of basic necessities are easily volatile. Therefore, the solution cannot only be in the form of market operations or temporary price interventions. There must be a long-term strategy in the form of strengthening local food security.

“The government cannot work alone. We need collaboration with Bank Indonesia, Bulog, business actors, and the community. This synergy will help increase local food production, expand supply sources, utilize digital technology, and strengthen MSMEs and cooperatives,” she added.

Through this meeting, the Depok TPID wants to emphasize its commitment: food security is not only about meeting daily needs, but also the main foundation of the regional economy. By strengthening the supply chain, encouraging local productivity, and maintaining price stability, Depok hopes that inflation can remain under control and the welfare of its citizens continues to increase.
