Depok – The Head of Depok City Regional Legislative Council, Ade Supriyatna, commented on the quiet conditions of the Pasar Rakyat Jabar Juara in the Sawangan area, which has been widely discussed by the public. According to him, this moment could actually be the starting point for a major transformation of the market, which is managed by the Depok Municipal Government.
In a personal post on social media, Ade Supriyatna mentioned that the idea from a netizen, who suggested transforming the market into a modern culinary center similar to Blok M District, deserves serious consideration.

“This is a concrete and realistic idea. Pasar Jabar Juara must be adapted to the needs of today’s society. Transforming it into a food court or business activity center could be a solution to revitalize this area,” said Ade.
Ade acknowledged that most of the market stalls are still closed. However, he noted that visitor trends have started to increase since public transportation access became available, such as the TransJakarta route D41 (Sawangan–Lebak Bulus) and Damri buses to the airport.
“Many residents are coming because public transportation is now available. This is a momentum that should not be missed. The market needs a more comfortable and attractive design so that residents enjoy coming,” he stated.
Ade emphasized the need for cross-departmental synergy to realize this transformation. According to him, the Department of Industry and Trade together with the Department of Transportation should sit together to formulate the best concept and strategy.
“We in the Legislative Council encourage the Depok Municipal Government to truly optimize the potential of this market. If managed properly, Pasar Jabar Juara could become a center for community activities and drive the local economy,” he affirmed.
