The Red and White Cabinet underwent changes yesterday.

Erick Thohir Shifted, Minister of SOEs Position Vacant, President Prabowo Subianto Inaugurates Eleven New Officials in Ministries and Agencies

Four individuals were removed from their positions.

Then, eleven new officials were immediately inaugurated.

The four individuals removed were Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Erick Thohir, Deputy Minister of Forestry Sulaiman Umar, Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Angga Raka Prabowo, Head of Presidential Communications Hasan Nasbi, and Head of the Presidential Staff Office A.M. Putranto.

Erick and Angga received new positions. Erick was inaugurated as Minister of Youth and Sports.

Meanwhile, Angga was entrusted as Head of the Government Communications Agency.

In addition to these two individuals, nine others were also appointed.

Namely, Lieutenant General (Ret.) Djamari Chaniago as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, Afriansyah Noor as Deputy Minister of Manpower, Rohmat Marzuki as Deputy Minister of Forestry, and Farida Farichah as Deputy Minister of Cooperatives.

Then, Muhammad Qodari as Head of the Presidential Staff Office, Nanik S. Deyang and Sony Sanjata both appointed as Deputy Heads of the National Nutrition Agency.

There is also Commissioner General (Ret.) Ahmad Dofiri appointed as Special Advisor to the President for Public Security and Order and Police Reform.

Lastly, Sarah Saqida was named Head of the Government Goods and Services Procurement Policy Agency.

As of yesterday, the replacement for Erick as Minister of SOEs remains vacant.

After the inauguration, Erick confirmed that his replacement at the Ministry of SOEs would be announced by the State Secretary. However, he claimed to know nothing about the candidates for his successor.

According to Erick, the appointment of the Minister of SOEs is the President’s prerogative.

“For SOEs, there will certainly be an acting official, and the State Secretary will announce it,” said Erick.

The State Secretary stated that the Palace is still looking for the right person to fill the position of Minister of SOEs.

“The definitive Minister of SOEs has not yet been appointed because we are still searching,” emphasized the State Secretary.

The position of Minister of SOEs has often been associated with the Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara).

Some circles believe that Danantara is taking over the authority of the Minister of SOEs. There are even rumors that the Ministry of SOEs will be merged into Danantara.

This was even discussed in a meeting at the House of Representatives last July.

At that time, a member of House Commission VI highlighted the overlapping roles between the Ministry of SOEs and Danantara. The member assessed that Danantara’s role is becoming increasingly dominant in managing SOE assets. This situation seems to reduce the function of the Ministry of SOEs.

Appreciation for the Inclusion of Djamari Chaniago and Ahmad Dofiri

A political observer commented on the inclusion of Djamari Chaniago and Ahmad Dofiri in the list of new officials inaugurated yesterday.

It was noted that Djamari Chaniago previously served as Army Strategic Reserve Commander and Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces. These two positions align with his role as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs.

However, his performance will be closely monitored by the public, especially after the wave of demonstrations in late August.

“In the context of geopolitical dynamics, domestic security is equally important. Both are vulnerable and can become extreme,” it was explained. Under these conditions, the ability of the Coordinating Minister will be questioned.

It was also mentioned that the selection of Ahmad Dofiri is a good choice.

This is because a special team has been promised to assist police reform.</p
