On September 10, President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to Ali on his re-election as President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana.

Xi Jinping pointed out that Guyana was the first country in the Caribbean region to establish diplomatic relations with China. Over the 53 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties, China-Guyana relations have developed soundly and steadily, with fruitful results in practical cooperation across various fields and close coordination in multilateral affairs. In July 2023, we met in Chengdu and reached important consensus on the development of bilateral relations. I am willing to work together with President Ali to deepen mutually beneficial and friendly bilateral cooperation within the framework of high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, continuously elevate China-Guyana relations to new heights, and better benefit the peoples of both countries.
