The Bandung City Government has affirmed its readiness to face the civil lawsuit filed by the former management of Yayasan Margasatwa Tamansari (YMT), the previous operator of Bandung Zoo. The lawsuit has been officially registered at the Bandung District Court with case number 377/Pdt.G/2025/PN Bdg and is listed in the Case Tracking Information System (SIPP).
The Deputy Mayor of Bandung stated that the legal action taken by the plaintiff is the right of every citizen. The city government does not object to the lawsuit and ensures that all legal processes will be responded to in accordance with regulations.
“Everyone has the right to file a lawsuit. We are prepared to respond through the legal department of the City Government,” he said after attending the Socialization of Integrity Assessment Survey and Gratification Control Program at Grand Preanger Bandung.
He explained that the Bandung City Government has prepared a legal team to handle this case.
“If it indeed goes to court, our Head of Legal Affairs will manage the entire process. All preparations have been made,” he said.
On the other hand, a spokesperson for the former management confirmed that the lawsuit was filed. According to him, the dispute relates to the certificate of land use rights for the zoo, which has long been a point of disagreement between the foundation and the Bandung City Government.
“Yes, it concerns the certificate of land use rights,” he said, without elaborating further on the substance of the lawsuit.
The Head of Information and Legal Services at the West Java Attorney General’s Office explained that the Bandung Zoo land, covering nearly 14 hectares, has been recorded as regional property since 2005 in the Model A Inventory Card (KIB) of the Bandung City Government. The land lease agreement ended on November 30, 2007, but the foundation continued to manage the zoo without depositing obligations to the regional treasury.
