BEKASI CITY – Public space facilities for interaction are greatly needed by the community in Jatiasih District. The discourse on the construction of Jatiasih Plaza, located in front of Jatiasih District, is gaining momentum again.
A member of the Bekasi City Regional House of Representatives questioned the realization of the construction of Jatiasih Plaza, which had been proposed since three years ago, during a Budget Deliberation meeting with the Regional Apparatus Organizations.
“Back then, I proposed the construction of Jatiasih Plaza to the Department of Housing, Settlement Areas, and Land Transportation. That is the face of my Jatiasih District,” he said.
He was somewhat angered upon hearing that the proposed budget for the construction of Jatiasih Plaza was removed by the Department.
“That construction only costs Rp2 billion. I asked and was told it was removed, so I want to know who removed it,” he stated.
Separately, the Head of Jatiasih District, confirmed that the budget plan for the construction of Jatiasih Plaza field had been proposed since three years ago.
“So far, it’s been three years since the proposal was made with no realization, because some repair work on the Jatiasih field was only handled by the Urban Road Care team of the Public Works Department. We hope for integrated repairs and arrangements such as a Jogging track so that the community is enthusiastic about using the Jatiasih field,” he said.
According to him, the budget for the construction of Jatiasih Plaza was not removed, but may not have entered the priority scale set by the Bekasi City Government.
“Actually, it wasn’t removed; it’s a matter of priorities, it’s not a priority. From our perspective, if possible, the facilities in the District should be improved to become a center for community interaction,” he said.
The party admitted that they are still communicating with the relevant Regional Apparatus Organizations regarding the construction of the Jatiasih Plaza field.
“We communicate well, but it again comes back to whether the funding source is available and whether it becomes a priority. That goes back to the local government’s budget team,” he concluded.
