On August 21, the Chengdu Traffic Police Branch Six received a public report that in the early hours of August 20, on Xinyu Road in the High-Tech Zone, vehicles were “racing” and “drifting in circles,” producing loud noises that severely disturbed the normal lives of nearby residents. After receiving the report, the Chengdu Traffic Police Branch Six quickly launched an investigation, soon identified the driver and the vehicle, and summoned Zheng for questioning and processing according to law.

After investigation, from 5:40 AM to 6:10 AM on August 20, Zheng, seeking excitement, rented a vehicle and actively invited two minors to ride along. He then drove the vehicle with the two passengers, engaging in “racing” and “drifting in circles” on Xinyu Road in the High-Tech Zone, creating loud noises that seriously affected the normal life and rest of nearby residents.

Zheng’s actions posed significant safety risks to vehicles passing through the area and to the road itself, severely disrupting normal traffic order and social order. On August 22, 2025, in accordance with relevant provisions of the “Public Security Administration Punishments Law of the People’s Republic of China,” the public security authorities imposed a five-day administrative detention on Zheng as a penalty.

Police handling the traffic violation case

Chengdu traffic police remind that public roads are not racetracks; behaviors such as racing and drifting are illegal, and in serious cases, may constitute crimes endangering public safety. Traffic police will maintain a high-pressure stance, increase patrols, and strictly punish illegal racing. All drivers are urged to obey traffic rules, avoid dangerous driving, and jointly maintain a safe and orderly road environment.

At the same time, Chengdu traffic police also call on families, schools, and society to collectively strengthen traffic safety and legal education for minors, guiding young people to establish correct traffic concepts, recognize the serious dangers of dangerous driving, consciously resist不良行为, and avoid participating in or riding in vehicles engaged in dangerous driving, to collectively safeguard the safe and healthy growth of minors.
