Three men in their 40s and 50s, members of an organized crime group, were arrested on suspicion of violating the Act on Punishment of Physical Violence and Others (collective intimidation) for allegedly threatening a man operating a kitchen car near Nishiarai Daishi. The three have either denied or reserved comment on the allegations.

According to the police, the arrest suspicion involves the three men approaching a man (49 at the time) who was selling baby castella from his kitchen car in a parking lot around 8:10 PM on January 2nd. They allegedly threatened him by saying, «Who gave you permission to open a castella shop?», «We only allow one baby castella shop in Nishiarai,» and «If you’re still in business tomorrow, we’ll smash your store.»

The three men are members of an organized crime group whose income comes from operating stalls at festivals and fairs. The day after the man was threatened, his kitchen car was sprayed with a fire extinguisher while he was operating. The police are investigating any connection to this incident.
