The incident occurred on 70th Anniversary of October Street near Evskina Boulevard during the day on August 10, as reported to the police by local residents.

They also mentioned that the young man struck the elderly woman on the head and attempted to thrust a Nordic walking stick into her neck.

Bystanders managed to protect the elderly woman. They also detained the attacker, though he reportedly resisted, and called the police. Additionally, witnesses stated that before noticing the attack on the retiree, they had seen the young man running from a courtyard and shouting that he was being strangled.

Law enforcement officers who arrived at the scene determined that a 24-year-old local resident had assaulted a passerby. An elderly woman attempted to stop the fight and was injured by the attacker. The retiree was taken to the hospital.

“Concerned citizens managed to stop the man and held him until the police arrived. The suspect was detained by officers. He has been hospitalized in a specialized facility. An investigation is underway,” reported the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Krasnodar Territory.

Also of note: in Anapa, a troublemaker smashed a car window.
