Fire breaks out in Mumbai hospital basement; patients safely evacuated
Mumbai, A fire broke out in the basement of a private hospital in Nerul, Mumbai, on Monday. No casualties were reported as patients either evacuated safely on their own or were rescued by firefighters, according to a municipal official. The fire at this medical center in Sector 6 was reported at noon.
At the time of the incident, there were 21 patients in the hospital. Ten patients were rescued by firefighters, while the others evacuated safely on their own. Twenty patients were transferred to a hospital in Panvel, while one person was admitted to a local facility.
The officer further stated that five fire engines were deployed to extinguish the blaze, which was brought under control within an hour. The basement was completely burnt, while smoke spread to other floors. The fire officer mentioned that the cause of the fire is under investigation.
