The General Authority for Civil Aviation and Meteorology has issued a new list of restrictions for citizens, warning them against being in flood channels, valleys, or under thunderstorms, and against walking on slippery muddy roads. In desert and coastal areas, direct exposure to sunlight at noon is prohibited, amid forecasts of shocking weather that combines extreme heat with scattered thunderstorms.

These warnings come as the Center for Weather Forecasts and Early Warning predicts generally extremely hot weather, with a mixed atmospheric condition expecting thunderstorms in various parts of the highlands and western and southwestern slopes.

Dry and harsh heat forecasts dominate desert and plateau areas during the day, while the bulletin predicts that coastal and nearby areas will be hot to very hot with high humidity, raising the perceived temperature, and may also see scattered rain.

The center also issued a special warning for fishermen and sea travelers in the Socotra Archipelago, the Arabian Sea, and the eastern Gulf of Aden about wind activity and sea disturbance, forecasting that the sea state along the coasts of the Socotra Archipelago will be moderate, and in the Arabian Sea also moderate.

Socotra Archipelago

The Socotra Archipelago, located in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Yemen, is renowned for its extraordinary biodiversity and unique flora, such as the iconic Dragon’s Blood Tree. Geologically isolated for millions of years, it has been a strategic trading hub since ancient times, with mentions in texts from the 1st century AD. In 2008, the archipelago was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its exceptional natural and cultural significance.

Arabian Sea

The Arabian Sea is a region of the northern Indian Ocean bordered by the Arabian Peninsula, India, and the Horn of Africa. Historically, it has been a vital maritime trade route for centuries, connecting the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia through the monsoon-driven spice and silk trades. Its ports, like Muscat and Mumbai, were key hubs in ancient and colonial commerce.

Gulf of Aden

The Gulf of Aden is a deep-water gulf located between Yemen on the Arabian Peninsula and Somalia in the Horn of Africa, connecting the Red Sea to the Arabian Sea via the Bab el-Mandeb strait. Historically, it has been a crucial maritime trade route for centuries, linking the Mediterranean to the Indian Ocean, and was a key part of the ancient incense and spice routes. In modern times, it remains strategically important for global oil shipments and commercial shipping, though it has also been a hotspot for piracy and geopolitical tensions.
