Washington/Islamabad. Despite suffering heavy losses in Operation Sindoor, Pakistan continues to issue empty threats.
Pakistan’s Army Chief and self-proclaimed Field Marshal Asim Munir has once again threatened India with a nuclear attack. Munir is currently on a visit to the US and made these controversial remarks during a dinner at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Tampa, Florida.
In front of Pakistani businessman Adnan Asad and other guests, Munir stated that if Pakistan’s existence is threatened in a war with India, they will “take half the world down with them.” He added that the Indus River is not India’s ancestral property and that Pakistan has no shortage of missiles.
Munir accused India of violating the Indus Water Treaty, endangering 250 million people with hunger and thirst. He warned that Pakistan would wait for India to complete its dam construction and then destroy it with missiles.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already made it clear that India will not be intimidated by any nuclear threats. Moreover, PM Modi has repeatedly stated in Parliament and on various platforms that Operation Sindoor is not over—it has only been postponed. Any terrorist action by Pakistan will be considered an act of war and met with a strong response.
Operation Sindoor
“Operation Sindoor” refers to a controversial cultural and social campaign in India, where Hindu nationalist groups organized mass weddings to convert non-Hindu women (often from marginalized communities) to Hinduism through the symbolic application of *sindoor* (vermilion), a traditional mark of married Hindu women. The practice has been criticized for promoting religious coercion and targeting vulnerable groups, particularly tribal and Christian women, as part of broader Hindu nationalist agendas. Critics argue it undermines religious freedom, while supporters claim it “reconverts” women to their “original” faith.

Today, it remains vital for agriculture, hydropower, and water supply in Pakistan.
Indus Water Treaty
The **Indus Waters Treaty** is a water-sharing agreement signed in 1960 between India and Pakistan, brokered by the World Bank. It allocates the waters of the Indus River system, giving Pakistan control over the western rivers (Indus, Jhelum, Chenab) and India the eastern rivers (Ravi, Beas, Sutlej). Despite political tensions, the treaty has remained in force, though disputes occasionally arise over dam projects and water usage.

Operation Sindoor
“Operation Sindoor” refers to a controversial cultural and social campaign in India, often associated with Hindu nationalist groups, promoting the practice of married Hindu women wearing sindoor (vermilion powder) as a symbol of marital status. Its history is tied to broader political and social tensions around religious identity and gender roles in contemporary India.
