Speaking about the city’s rapid efforts, driven by strong political commitment and resource mobilization, experts noted that these actions could yield long-term gains in education, public health, and economic productivity.
A psychologist specializing in child development said that child development still does not receive enough priority across Africa, noting that Addis Ababa’s approach provides an important example for other cities on the continent.
He emphasized that investing in children is essentially investing in the future of any country’s workforce and social development.
Meanwhile, another expert highlighted the importance of clean, green, and safe urban environments for children, especially in densely populated cities.
She described the expansion of parks and safe play areas in Addis Ababa as important tools that support child development in urban settings.
