Bandung –
How unfortunate! That word might echo in the minds of Persib fans. Amid the euphoria of Persib Bandung’s celebration of winning the Liga 1 title for the third consecutive time, social media was stirred by a viral video showing a man wearing Persib Bandung attire, allegedly a fan, hitting another fan during the victory convoy in Bandung City.
As a result of this incident, the Viking Persib Club has taken a stance!
Here are the facts of the incident:
1. Happened During the Convoy
The incident occurred in the Merdeka Street area, in front of the BIP shopping center. In the widely circulated video on social media, a tall man wearing a Persib jersey with the number 7 on the back was seen venting his anger at a motorcyclist on an RX King.
The man appeared angry as he approached the motorcyclist, who was also part of the Persib victory convoy. The motorcyclist only smiled and did not respond to the anger directed at him.
2. Victim Hit Twice
The situation then heated up when the man in Persib attire allegedly hit the motorcyclist twice. Despite receiving the blows, the victim did not fight back.
According to narratives circulating on social media, the man who did the hitting was suspected to be heavily intoxicated. Shortly after the incident, several other fans along with the perpetrator’s friends intervened to restrain the man to prevent the situation from escalating further.
The video of the beating drew many reactions from netizens. Many lamented the action because it happened during the celebration of Persib’s victory, especially since both the perpetrator and the victim were supporters of Maung Bandung.
3. Victim and Perpetrator Met
It was later revealed that the victim and the perpetrator were brought together for mediation at the police station. However, to date, no official report has been filed by the victim regarding the incident.
When confirmed, the Head of Public Relations of the Bandung City Police, Nurindah, confirmed that no police report had been made by the victim.
“No report has been made yet,” said Indah.
