Three people, including a BJP activist, were detained at Chennai’s Tambaram railway station in Tamil Nadu. Cash amounting to 4 crore rupees was recovered from them. According to officials, they were attempting to carry the money in six bags. The three were about to travel by train to Tirunelveli when the flying squad detained them.

Among those detained are a BJP member and manager of a private hotel named Satish, his brother Naveen, and driver Perumal. According to the Chengalpattu District Election Officer, the seized cash has been sent to the Income Tax Department for further investigation.

Sources stated that Satish allegedly confessed to acting on instructions from the team of BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate from Tirunelveli, Nainar Nagendran. Further investigation into the matter is ongoing.

The Chengalpattu District Election Officer said that the flying squad seized 4 crore rupees at Chennai’s Tambaram railway station on Saturday. It has been sent to the Income Tax Department for further investigation. The department will examine the seized amount as it exceeds the 10 lakh rupee limit under the model code of conduct.

This development comes just days before the Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu. There are 39 Lok Sabha seats in the state. Voting will take place in a single phase on April 19, with vote counting scheduled for June 4.
