A complaint has been filed against former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the Siliguri Cyber Police Station over multiple allegedly controversial remarks made during the Red Road Eid event and election campaigns. The complaint was lodged by lawyer Rinki Chattopadhyay. The incident has stirred political circles. Comments by Darjeeling district Trinamool Congress general secretary and lawyer Atri Sharma regarding the case have increased discomfort within the party. The complainant, Rinki Chattopadhyay, alleges that in 2025, during the Eid event at Red Road in Kolkata, the former Chief Minister made controversial comments targeting Hindutva and the Hindu community. She claims that when she attempted to file a complaint at the Pradhannagar police station in Siliguri at that time, she was harassed. She said, “The police officers refused to accept my complaint. I was mistreated and verbally abused before being thrown out of the station.” Later, before the assembly elections, comments made by then Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee from a protest platform sparked controversy.

She said, “I am awaiting whatever legal action is possible.” It is noteworthy that during the last assembly elections, an FIR was filed against Trinamool’s all-India general secretary Abhishek Banerjee at the Bidhannagar Cyber Police Station for allegedly provocative remarks.
