Spain National Team Squad

Luis de la Fuente, head coach of the Spain national football team, announced the list of players who will represent the first team in the World Cup hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The squad selected by de la Fuente includes no players from Real Madrid, 8 players from Barcelona, 3 players from Atlético Madrid, 3 from Athletic Bilbao, 3 from Arsenal, one from Celta Vigo, one from Osasuna, one from Crystal Palace, one from Real Sociedad, one from Bayer Leverkusen, one from Tottenham, one from Chelsea, one from Manchester City, and one from Paris Saint-Germain.

The list includes 26 players: Goalkeepers: Unai Simón, David Raya, and Juan García. Defenders: Pedro Porro, Marcos Llorente, Aymeric Laporte, Pau Cubarsí, Marc Pubill, Eric García, Marc Cucurella, and Alejandro Grimaldo. Midfielders: Rodrigo Hernández, Martín Zubimendi, Pedri González, Fabián Ruiz, Mikel Merino, Gavi, and Álex Baena. Forwards: Mikel Oyarzabal, Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres, Borja Iglesias, Dani Olmo, Víctor Muñoz, Nico Williams, and Yeremy Pino.

Preparation and Friendly Match Details

Spain is in Group 8 alongside Saudi Arabia, Uruguay, and Cape Verde.

The Spain squad is scheduled to gather in Las Rozas next Saturday to begin preparations for the World Cup, which will take place from June 11 to July 19.

Spain will play two friendly matches: the first on Thursday, June 4, at the Riazor stadium against Iraq, and the second on June 9 at the Cuauhtémoc stadium in Puebla, Mexico, against Peru.

Spain’s Group and Opening Match

A few days later, specifically on Monday, June 15, Spain will make its anticipated World Cup debut against Cape Verde in Atlanta, USA.
