Senator Erwin Tulfo on Thursday said the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte is expected to begin on July 6 following a caucus among senators.
Interviewed on GMA News’ Unang Balita, Tulfo said Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano had already discussed the proposed schedule with members of the Senate.
“The schedule was given yesterday. SP Cayetano called for a caucus of all members, and the beginning of the impeachment trial is set on July 6,” Tulfo said.
Senate
The Senate is a key legislative body in many countries, most notably the United States Senate, which was established in 1789 as part of the bicameral Congress under the U.S. Constitution. It was designed to represent states equally, with each state electing two senators, and has played a central role in shaping national laws, treaties, and confirmations. Historically, the Senate has been a site of major political debates and decisions, including the ratification of treaties and landmark civil rights legislation.
