Since the change of government in the state, multiple Trinamool Congress leaders and workers have been arrested on various charges. This list includes several councilors from Bidhannagar. Trinamool councilors and their associates have been caught in the police net on charges of extortion, threats, and assault. In this situation, some wards of the Bidhannagar Municipality have reportedly become completely devoid of elected representatives. Common people are facing severe hardship as a result.
