A senior Chinese official conducted a research visit in Beijing on May 18. He emphasized the need to thoroughly implement important directives on developing new quality productive forces and building a modern industrial system. He called for promoting the deep integration of artificial intelligence with advanced manufacturing, adhering to innovative development, highlighting application orientation, actively advancing the iterative upgrading of intelligent robots, and vigorously promoting the comprehensive and deep empowerment of manufacturing through artificial intelligence to accelerate the cultivation and shaping of new drivers and advantages for economic development.

The official first visited Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center Co., Ltd. and Xiaomi Automobile Technology Co., Ltd., where he listened to introductions on intelligent robot technology innovation and industrial development, observed the company’s research achievements and product applications in different scenarios, and visited production workshops to understand intelligent manufacturing and quality inspection. He pointed out that intelligent robots, which integrate new technologies such as large models, high-end manufacturing, and new materials, are important carriers for the integration of artificial intelligence and advanced manufacturing. In recent years, China’s intelligent robot technology has accelerated iterative upgrades and is increasingly being widely applied across various industries and fields. He stressed the need to continuously strengthen basic research, tackle key core technologies, and explore cutting-edge technologies, build technological innovation and industrial service platforms, establish high-quality data training grounds, and accelerate breakthroughs in complete machine products, key components, and intelligent decision-making and control systems to provide strong support for the high-quality development of the intelligent robot industry. He emphasized that the vitality of technology lies in its application. The intelligent robot industry has vast development space, and it is necessary to leverage China’s advantages such as a super-large market scale, complete industrial chains, and rich application scenarios. We should make good use of supporting policies like large-scale equipment updates and first-set equipment, encourage government departments and state-owned enterprises to open up scenarios, promote pilot testing of new technologies and products, support the accelerated large-scale application of intelligent robots under the premise of ensuring safety, and continuously identify problems, solve them, and improve through practice.

He pointed out that the current acceleration of deep integration between artificial intelligence and advanced manufacturing is profoundly changing production and manufacturing models and industrial forms. It is necessary to deeply implement the “Artificial Intelligence+” action in the manufacturing sector, transform and upgrade traditional industries, continuously strengthen emerging industries, and strive to cultivate future industries. We must accelerate the development of a new generation of intelligent manufacturing, strengthen standard guidance, talent support, and safety assurance, support the development and application of industry-specific large models and intelligent agents, encourage the research and development of a new generation of intelligent equipment and products, strengthen hardware and software adaptation, promote the digital and intelligent transformation of key industries by category, develop enabling application service providers, and promote an overall leap in the industrial system. He emphasized that enterprises are the main force driving industrial transformation. We must fully leverage the innovation role of enterprises, support more enterprises in increasing research and development investment, strengthen industry-university-research collaborative efforts, promote the full-process intelligent upgrade of research and development design, production manufacturing, operations management, and after-sales services, create new business models and formats for intelligent products and services, and better lead industrial transformation and upgrading while meeting people’s living needs.
