Saayoni Ghosh: In Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, the chairman of Sikandrabad Municipality and BJP leader Dr. Pradeep Dixit has announced a reward of 1 crore rupees for beheading TMC MP Saayoni Ghosh from West Bengal. His announcement is related to an old viral post by Saayoni involving a Shiva linga. This post by the TMC MP has sparked a political controversy in Bulandshahr district.
Comment on Saayoni Ghosh
A video of Pradeep Dixit is going viral on social media, in which he says, ‘I worship Lord Shiva for 1 hour daily. I am deeply hurt by the act committed by TMC MP Saayoni Ghosh. Whoever brings the severed head of Saayoni Ghosh will be given a reward of 1 crore rupees.’ This comment was made during a protest in Sikandrabad, where organizers described Saayoni Ghosh’s post as an insult to Hindu deities. The organization was also conducting a 3,100-kilometer march on this issue.
It is worth noting that Saayoni Ghosh had shared a post on her social media account in 2015, which came to public attention during the 2021 and then the 2026 assembly elections. Previously, an FIR had been filed against Ghosh regarding this post. She clarified that her account was hacked in 2015 and the hacker had posted that photo. She said that she deleted the post immediately after regaining access to her account.
Reaction from BJP and Congress
Regarding Dixit’s statement, Bulandshahr Congress district president Ziaur Rahman objected and demanded police action against him. Rahman said, ‘With such people in the party, how can women feel safe? They are offering a reward for killing a woman. This is shameful, and senior party officials should take appropriate action against him. We demand that the police file an FIR.’ BJP district president Vikas Chauhan said that this was Dixit’s personal opinion and has nothing to do with the party.
