Depok –
Police have arrested seven individuals suspected of being debt collectors (locally known as “Matel”) in Depok, West Java. Authorities also confiscated four motorcycles from the suspects.

“During Friday’s patrol, we coordinated with criminal investigation units from Depok Metro Police and apprehended seven suspected debt collectors in the Sukmajaya area,” said a police representative.
The operation was launched following public complaints about debt collector activities in Depok. The seven individuals claimed to work for a financing company.
“In response to social media reports, we took immediate action through Depok Metro Police by conducting Operation Pekat Jaya,” the representative added.
Police seized four motorcycles as evidence and are verifying their documentation.
“According to information, they were employed by several financing companies. We’ve secured four motorcycles and are thoroughly examining whether these vehicles have proper legal documentation,” the representative explained.
