Twisha Sharma: The death of a 31-year-old model from Noida has caused shockwaves from social media to newsrooms. Twisha’s family has accused her in-laws of torturing her. They claim the in-laws were harassing her for dowry. They suspect she was murdered. They want a fair investigation in this case, and therefore, even six days after the incident, the deceased’s relatives have refused to accept her body.

It may be noted that Twisha from Noida was married into a high-profile family in Bhopal. Her mother-in-law is named Giribala Singh, a retired judge, and her husband, Samarth Singh, is a criminal lawyer by profession. The couple was married in December 2025. In this case, Giribala Singh has been granted anticipatory bail, while Samarth is still absconding. Twisha’s family is angry about the mother-in-law receiving bail and is pleading with the government to cancel her anticipatory bail.

While Twisha Sharma’s family is leveling such serious allegations against her in-laws, what Giribala Singh said about Twisha is very surprising. According to a report, in her bail petition, Giribala Singh stated, ‘Twisha Sharma was a drug addict. When she didn’t get drugs, her hands would start shaking, and she would behave strangely.’

‘She used to disappear from home for days without telling anyone’

Not only that, she also said, ‘She used to disappear from home for days without telling anyone. She mentioned April 17, 2026, in her petition, writing that Twisha left home saying she was going to her parental home in Noida, but she arrived on the 18th. No one knows where she was for 24 hours.’

‘We did not ask for any dowry, she was undergoing mental treatment’

We did not ask for any dowry. We never put any kind of pressure on her. Moreover, we gave her money every month according to her needs. On the contrary, after she became pregnant, her behavior towards family members changed. She would get irritated over small things. Twisha was also undergoing treatment with psychiatrist Dr. Satyakant Trivedi because she was not mentally healthy. We used to send her money online every month, and all the data for that is available.

‘They are powerful people, saying wrong things’

However, Twisha Sharma’s family has directly called these statements by Giribala Singh wrong and baseless. They say, ‘These people are powerful and are misusing their power, falsely defaming our daughter. Have some shame.’ They stated that on the evening of May 11, she spoke to her mother. At that time, she seemed very distressed. During the conversation, her phone disconnected and never reconnected. The next day, we received news that she was no more. We want a fair investigation in this case and for the guilty to be punished.

Noida

Noida, short for the New Okhla Industrial Development Authority, is a planned city in Uttar Pradesh, India, established in the 1970s as part of a major industrial and residential development initiative. Originally created to decongest Delhi and provide organized urban expansion, it has grown into a major hub for information technology, media, and corporate offices. Its rapid development reflects India’s post-liberalization economic growth, though the area also has a history of land disputes and urbanization challenges.

Bhopal

Bhopal, the capital of the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, is known as the “City of Lakes” for its numerous natural and artificial water bodies. Historically, it was founded in the 11th century by Raja Bhoj, but its modern character was shaped by the Islamic rule of the Afghan Dost Mohammad Khan in the early 18th century. The city is also infamously remembered for the 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy, one of the world’s worst industrial disasters.
