Jakarta – A man identified by the initials JN (54) was detained by the Bekasi Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit on suspicion of committing acts against a minor. Tragically, the victim was his own biological child.
“The victim, identified as B (14), is suspected to have experienced obscene acts committed by the perpetrator repeatedly from September 2024 to October 2025 in the rented house they occupied,” said Bekasi Metro Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Sumarni, in Cikarang.
The case came to light after the victim confided in her older sibling, which eventually led to a report to the police. The victim was known to live with her biological father in a rented house under the pretense of being closer to school.
Previously, in the Tambelang District area, she had lived there since childhood because both parents worked.
“The perpetrator is suspected of exploiting the closeness and the situation in the rented house, leaving the victim in a helpless condition,” he said.
The police conducted an investigation after receiving the report. Investigators are also still examining the perpetrator’s statement, who claimed he was providing sexual education to the victim.
Meanwhile, the Head of Criminal Investigation for the Bekasi Metro Police, Commissioner Jerico Lavian Chandra, added that the suspect has been detained and is undergoing intensive examination at the Bekasi Metro Police Headquarters.
During the investigation, police also secured a number of pieces of evidence, including the victim’s clothing, the results of a psychological examination, and statements from several witnesses.
For his actions, suspect JN is charged under Article 473, paragraph (4) of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code, related to the criminal act of sexual violence against a child.
