A member of the Hajj Oversight Team of the DPR RI urged all Indonesian Hajj pilgrims to increase vigilance against the potential spread of Hantavirus, especially for pilgrims with a history of lung disease.
She emphasized that physical health is the main capital in performing the Hajj pilgrimage so that all series of worship can be carried out calmly and solemnly.
“Today’s Hajj pilgrims must be more vigilant because there is Hantavirus, especially those with lung disease. Therefore, health is paramount so that the Hajj pilgrimage can run well and be accepted,” she said at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Jakarta, on Sunday.
She also reminded of the importance of maintaining cleanliness and wearing masks in public places as a precautionary measure, although according to her, the spread of Hantavirus is not as severe as COVID-19.
“The most important thing is to maintain body immunity. Because the Hajj pilgrimage requires physical and mental readiness. There is tawaf, long-distance walking activities, and various other worship series that require energy,” she said.
Regarding pilgrims who are sick and being treated in Madinah, she said the health team and the Indonesian Hajj Health Clinic will strive to provide intensive care so that the pilgrims’ condition recovers quickly and they can continue their journey to Mecca.
“As much as possible, treat them intensively, starting from medication, psychological support, to prayer. The most important thing remains that the body condition must be healthy,” she said.
According to her, the pilgrims still have time to prepare their body condition before the Hajj peak begins on 9 Zulhijjah or around May 26.
“Now they must start maintaining health, maintaining immunity, eating healthy food, and maintaining fitness so that during the Hajj peak later they can be optimal without being disturbed by health problems,” she concluded.
