Ratlam (Madhya Pradesh): Early Sunday morning, a fire broke out in a Rajdhani Express train in the Ratlam district of Madhya Pradesh, disrupting rail traffic on the Mumbai-Delhi route and affecting several trains. Officials stated that repair work is ongoing and traffic is expected to be restored within a few hours.

Officials reported that the fire started in an AC coach of the Thiruvananthapuram-Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express, which was heading to Delhi, at 5:15 AM between the Vikramgarh Alot and Luni Richha stations under the Kota division of the railways.

Coach carrying 68 passengers evacuated within 15 minutes

The Additional Divisional Railway Manager of Kota, present at the scene, stated over the phone that due to this incident, the movement of eight to ten trains was affected. He said, “Repair work (on overhead equipment) is underway on a war footing.”

The B-1 coach of the Rajdhani Express, traveling from Thiruvananthapuram to Delhi, caught fire, which then spread to the luggage-cum-guard van. Officials reported that the coach carrying 68 passengers was evacuated within 15 minutes, and no casualties occurred. Later, as a safety measure, the affected coach was detached from the rake after the overhead power supply was shut down. Officials stated that the cause of the fire is under investigation.
