An ice pick and hammer were used in an attempt to kill a man, leading to the arrest of a 53-year-old unemployed man from Gamagori City, Aichi Prefecture, on suspicion of attempted murder.
According to police, the arrested man, an unemployed individual (53) from Takeya-cho, Gamagori City, is suspected of visiting an apartment complex in Gamagori City around 1:40 p.m. on the 16th, and with intent to kill, repeatedly stabbed a 57-year-old unemployed man living in one of the units in the right arm area with an ice pick, and also struck his head multiple times with a hammer.
The suspect called police, saying, “I just stabbed someone. I think he will die,” and was arrested at the scene by responding officers. The victim’s life is not in danger.
Police believe the ice pick and hammer were brought by the suspect, and are investigating the relationship between the two men and the circumstances of the incident.
