New Delhi, Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should immediately dismiss Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan or accept responsibility himself, regarding the alleged irregularities in the medical entrance exam ‘NEET-UG’.
VIDEO | Lok Sabha LoP and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi says, “In NEET, for two years, 22 lakh students worked hard, worked day and night. Their hard work has gone to waste. The entire country knows that two days before the exam, the NEET paper was being shared on WhatsApp, it was…
Rahul Gandhi also alleged that this case is a ‘collusion for making money’ between the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, and their associates sitting in various institutions. The Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha posted a video on ‘X’ saying, ’22 lakh children of NEET have been cheated. But Modi ji is not saying a single word. Remove Dharmendra Pradhan ji now, or take responsibility yourself.’
Rahul Gandhi’s Allegation: Hard work of 22 lakh students wasted
In the video, Rahul Gandhi said that 22 lakh students worked extremely hard for two years and all their hard work has gone to waste. He said, ‘The entire country knows that two days before the exam, the NEET paper was distributed on WhatsApp. The country’s Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan says he has nothing to do with this matter.’ Rahul Gandhi claimed that Pradhan threw the recommendation of the parliamentary standing committee on education into the trash and said that since the opposition members are in this committee, these recommendations are meaningless.
Rahul Gandhi claimed that Pradhan has damaged the fundamental structure of the country’s education system. Rahul Gandhi also alleged, ‘In the center, there is this coalition for making money between RSS-BJP and their associates—vice-chancellors of universities, professors. They have destroyed India’s education system.’ Rahul Gandhi said, ‘The entire country knows that if you want to become a vice-chancellor of a university, you don’t need to have knowledge or experience of the subject. If you are associated with RSS, you can become a vice-chancellor, but if your ideology is not of RSS, then you cannot become a vice-chancellor.’
Jairam Ramesh’s Allegation: Ignoring parliamentary traditions
The former Congress president claimed that in the last few years, papers have been leaked 80 times in various exams. He said that the Prime Minister should dismiss his Education Minister and order the strictest punishment for the guilty in the NEET paper leak case. Earlier, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said that in the Modi government, the ‘Amrit Kaal’ is proving to be ‘Mrit Kaal’ (death period) for recruitment exam students and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan should resign immediately.
Kharge also said that the Prime Minister should now break his silence and ‘discuss the exam leaks’. Kharge said, ‘Modi ji, discuss the exam leaks, staying silent will not help.’ Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh, referring to the parliamentary standing committee on education, also claimed that by refusing to accept the committee’s recommendations, the minister has rejected the multi-party traditions of Parliament. Ramesh said, ‘The Prime Minister proudly and widely promotes his annual “Pariksha Pe Charcha” program. But today, the need of the hour is a review of the examination. The Education Minister does not seem suitable for this responsibility.’
