On May 17, the 2026 VTV9 – Binh Dien International Women’s Volleyball Cup will feature a highly exciting match.
The third match day of the 2026 Cup will witness one of the most intense rivalries in Vietnamese volleyball. Specifically, it will be a “big battle” between the host team VTV Binh Dien Long An and Binh Chung Thong Tin.
These are two of the most traditional and decorated teams in the country. Therefore, they have a large fan base.
Before each match between these two teams, public opinion is stirred up. The debates are so intense that Vietnamese fans have nicknamed these matches the “X-Y battle,” with X being a playful nickname for Binh Chung Thong Tin, while Y refers to the other.
At this year’s VTV9 – Binh Dien Cup, the match between the two teams carries even greater significance. In Group A, Jiangsu (China) has defeated both strong teams and is considered to have secured a spot in the next round, as their final match is only against VietinBank.
Therefore, VTV Binh Dien Long An and Binh Chung Thong Tin must win their direct match to secure a ticket to the semifinals. Due to this special circumstance, the match between the two teams at 8 PM on May 17 is sure to be thrilling, dramatic, and leave no room for error.
Before that, there will be two matches in Group B. At 2 PM, LPBank Ninh Binh will face Gunma Green Wings (Japan). At 5 PM, the match between Hanoi and Suwon (South Korea) will take place. If both win, the two Vietnamese clubs will advance in Group B.
